Huby Nursery

Following a consultation period, we are offering a governor-led nursery for 3- and 4-year-olds at Huby CE Primary School from September 2023.

Key features of a governor-led nursery:

Early-years children are on the early-years register and not on the school roll.

Delivered by Early Years practitioners.

In our Early Years – Robins - we have a mixed class of up to 10 Nursery children and 15 Reception children. The children all access our Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

In 2023/2024 the class teachers are Mrs Thompson and Mrs Scanlan.

We offer sessions between 8.45am and 3.30pm. Every child is entitled to 15 hours of free childcare per week (universal early years funded places) from the start of the term following their 3rd birthday, for 38 weeks of the year. In addition to this, eligible parents can apply for an extended entitlement of 15 hours of free childcare per week, enabling up to 30 hours per week funded childcare for 38 weeks. Applications for the extended entitlement must be made through the digital childcare service, where a full list of qualifying criteria can also be found: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/ Additional sessions can be paid for.

Our nursery children are also be able to use Huby Herons (7.45-8.45am and 3.30-5.30pm) however funding can not be used for these sessions.

Children are able to start in Robin Class the term after they turn three. Admission to the foundation stage class is managed by the governing body in line with the agreed oversubscription criteria of the local authority admissions policy. Admission policy for community and voluntary controlled nurseries 2023/2024 Admission to nursery does not guarantee a Reception place. If you are interested in a place for your child please contact the school office admin@huby.n-yorks.sch.uk for further information and a booking form. Visits to the school can also be arranged.
