Collective Worship

Collective Worship Themes

Huby is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School. Although it was originally founded by the church it is now voluntarily controlled through the North Yorkshire County Council. We are proud of our links with All Hallows Church in Sutton-on-the-Forest and the Methodist Church in Huby.

Collective Worship at Huby is inclusive, invitational and inspiring. All children and staff take part in a daily act of Collective Worship, which is wholly or mainly of a Christian character and can draw upon parables, fables, stories, legends and current affairs. We also explore other faiths in a similar way. We believe that Collective Worship gives children the opportunity to worship together and to consider spiritual and moral issues or to explore individual beliefs. Our Christian Value for Autumn (1) 2024 is 'Thankfulness'.

As a parent, you have the right to request that your child withdraws from Collective Worship or Religious Education on the grounds of religious belief or conscience. Please contact the headteacher to discuss your request and the alternative provision for your child.

The children have worked together to write our new school prayer which is linked to our school values.

Dear God,

Thank you for your love and our friendships

Please help us to respect the world and those around us

Guide us to persevere when times are hard and show courage when faced with challenges.

Amen

The children led Collective Worship which was about the Creation story.
