Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Together, we can help every child to let their light shine.

Providing for children with SEND is the responsibility of every adult at Huby.
Our appointed SENDCo is Miss Ion, who can be contacted by emailing SENCO@huby.n-yorks.sch.uk.
Our appointed SEND Governor is Rachel Comerford. Please see our Governors' page for further details.

Our children come to school with a wide variety of strengths, needs and experiences. At Huby, we believe that every child is unique and has their own light to shine.

We work hard to ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging and is supported to overcome barriers to learning. We want all children to have the opportunity to thrive, achieve, flourish and develop their confidence, independence and wellbeing. We recognise that children may need different support and adaptations in order to access learning and participate fully in school life.

Our approach to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is consistent, inclusive and child-centred. We follow the Assess, Plan, Do, Review approach to ensure that provision is carefully considered, monitored and adapted as children's needs develop.

Our approach is underpinned by our school values. Through connection, we build positive relationships and work in partnership with families. Through courage, we encourage children to overcome challenges, have a go and celebrate their progress. Through curiosity, we seek to understand each child's strengths, interests and barriers to learning so that we can provide the support they need to flourish.
