PE and Sports Premium
What is Sports Premium?
Sports Premium is additional government funding given to primary schools to help improve the quality of PE, sport and physical activity.
This funding is provided for schools to ensure all children have access to high-quality PE lessons, as well as more opportunities to be active, take part in sport, and develop healthy lifestyles.
At Huby CE Primary School, we use this funding in a variety of ways to enhance our PE and sport provision across the whole school.
What is the purpose of Sports Premium?
Schools must use Sports Premium funding to improve PE and sport for pupils, but they can decide how best to do this based on their own school needs.
It may be used for things such as:
- -Employing specialist PE teachers or sports coaches to work alongside staff
-Supporting children who are less active or less confident in sport
-Providing training and development for staff in PE
-Offering extra sports clubs and physical activity opportunities before and after school
-Entering competitions and increasing participation in School Games events
-Providing resources and equipment to improve PE lessons
-Working with other schools to share good practice and opportunities
Accountability
Schools are required to report how they spend Sports Premium funding and the impact it has on pupils.
This information is reviewed by Ofsted as part of school inspections.
We also publish details of our PE and sport provision on our school website so parents can see how the funding is being used and the opportunities available for children both during and beyond the school day.
