Young Leaders
Young Leaders has been running for quite a number of years now here at Huby, and it is still something that children enjoy doing.
This year, we will be running the Young Leaders Award in KS2 (Red Kites) and the main focus is to encourage and help support the younger children during playtimes. At the start of the year, the Red Kites were coached in leading playground games. They then deliver a fun and engaging session for the younger classes during break times and lunch times. It has given the Red Kites confidence to deliver such activities and allows them to demonstrate and set good examples for their fellow peers.
What are the benefits of completing the award?
- Links to SEAL include development of personal and social awareness, self-esteem, setting a good example and confidence building.
- Teamwork and co-operation skills are developed, alongside year group cohesion.
- Opportunities to develop greater understanding of democracy and the needs of the world wide community.
- The personal development of self-belief, resilience to ‘have a go’ as well as developing the knowledge we all can make a change for the better no matter how large or small that may be.
