French
At Huby Church of England (VC) Primary School, learning French gives children the opportunity to develop their language skills, broaden their cultural understanding and communicate with others beyond their immediate community. Through a progressive curriculum, children develop confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing in French, while discovering aspects of French-speaking cultures and communities.
French provides opportunities for children to let their light shine by developing their confidence to communicate and their curiosity about the wider world. Through language learning, children develop Courage to have a go and communicate in a new language, Connection through communicating with others and exploring different cultures, and Curiosity about the world beyond their own experiences.
Our long-term plans and subject intent explain in more detail how French is taught at Huby and how our curriculum reflects our vision, values and commitment to helping every child flourish.
