History
At Huby Church of England (VC) Primary School, History enables children to develop a curiosity about the past and an understanding of how it has shaped the world in which we live today. We use the Kapow Primary History scheme to provide a broad and progressive curriculum, helping children develop their chronological understanding, historical knowledge and enquiry skills through the study of significant people, events, periods and civilisations.
History provides opportunities for children to let their light shine by asking questions, investigating evidence and developing their own understanding of the past. Through their learning, children develop Courage to question and challenge ideas, Connection by understanding how people, communities and events are linked across time, and Curiosity about the people and stories that have shaped our world.
Our long-term plans and subject intent explain in more detail how History is taught at Huby and how our curriculum reflects our vision, values and commitment to helping every child flourish.
